Sub/merged responds to the site of the Singapore art Museum, located in Singapore's Bras Basah.Bugis Precinct. The work draws inspiration from the history of the area to imagine a subterranean city of the future.
The hypothetical city is a reaction to the challenges of land scarcity in Singapore, suggesting new architectural underground typologies that embrace a wide variety of uses, from subterranean galleries to parks.
Commissioned by Singapore Art Museum (SAM),
Sub/merged by Finbarr Fallon is on view on the hoarding around the SAM building along Bras Basah Road from 18 December 2020 to 6 June 2021.
